Steph

Steph took over the directorship of Pier1 from her husband, Angus, in 2022. A psychologist by profession, Steph has spent the past 12 years as an academic, researching the dynamics of high-performing teams within the context of surgical care. Now fully dedicated to the family business, Steph is passionate about the belief that a thriving company is built on a happy and healthy workforce. She places great importance on the fundamental values of effective communication, shared decision-making, and teamwork.

Steph is in the showroom every weekday, engaging with customers and brainstorming with the close-knit team at Pier1. She takes immense pride in her award-winning team and the exceptional quality of customer service they consistently deliver. She likes to stay involved in the details and progress of every project, regardless of its size or scope, ensuring that the high standards of Pier1 are always upheld.

In her spare time, when she isn’t busy with her young children, Steph maintains her academic interests and can often be found with her head buried in a book, continuing her passion for learning and growth.

Rosie

Rosie has been with Pier1 since its inception in 2019 and leads the team with her remarkable flair for all things interior, exceptional people skills, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Having put many of Pier1’s processes and company values in place herself, her commitment to our first-class service remains at the heart of everything she does. Her significant contributions to the industry were recognised when she was awarded ‘Rising Star’ at the 2023 KBB Design Awards, one of the most prestigious events in the design calendar.

In addition to her management responsibilities, Rosie is a senior designer with a growing portfolio of stunning bathrooms. Her design expertise has earned her accolades and visibility, with several of her bathroom projects featured in leading industry publications, including ‘Ideal Home Magazine’ and ‘Kitchens, Bathrooms and Bedrooms.’

Growing up in a family of tradesmen and working closely with them, Rosie has extensive experience in the installation process. She has an in-depth understanding of the plumbing and fitting process and incorporates this into her design ideas to provide innovative solutions that recognise the importance of getting the technical specification right for a seamless fit.

In her spare time, Rosie enjoys staying active by keeping fit at the gym, as well as engaging in painting and upholstery projects.

Leanne

In her previous role in financial services, Leanne developed an extensive skill set, overseeing and coordinating operations across a large company with multiple assets. She excelled at ensuring effective controls and procedures were in place, which enabled the smooth functioning of complex processes. Leanne brings this strong organisational ability to our small team, streamlining our operations and ensuring that every step of the customer journey — from ordering products to managing delivery schedules and handling logistical issues — is handled efficiently.

Her meticulous attention to detail and strategic planning skills provides invaluable support, allowing the entire team to function at its best. She is dedicated to maintaining the exceptional standard of after-care service we are known for by consistently anticipating potential challenges and proactively resolving them. Leanne’s ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and her talent for organising resources ensures all details are meticulously covered, while customers are kept informed and updated throughout their experience.

Since joining the company, we have discovered that Leanne also has a secret talent and eye for design! As a result, she is often the sounding board for the design team and takes charge of dressing and updating the showroom.

Imman

Imman is an award-winning designer with a wealth of experience in high-end interior design and is the latest addition to our growing team. Bathrooms are Imman’s true passion, but her expertise extends across a range of interior spaces meaning her product knowledge and ability to find solutions to the trickiest of design challenges are second to none. Imman’s dedication to conceptual design, combined with her conscientiousness, creativity, and intuitive approach, allows her to craft innovative and visually stunning spaces that exceed clients’ expectations. By actively collaborating with clients and incorporating their feedback throughout the design process, she ensures that every project is meticulously tailored to reflect the client’s unique preferences and requirements.

One of Imman’s key strengths lies in her ability to build and maintain strong, lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues. She thrives in fast-paced environments, and her commitment to delivering exceptional results drives her to go above and beyond to meet project deadlines without ever compromising on quality or attention to detail. Her calm and composed demeanour under pressure makes her a reliable partner for even the most complex projects.

Outside of work, Imman loves to embrace nature and can often be found exploring the shores of Sussex on her paddle board.

Tal

Tal has spent the last seven years working in the design industry, developing a thoughtful, detail-driven approach to creating beautiful, functional spaces. Her experience includes high-end residential projects in London, Beijing and Mayfair, and more recently she has specialised in bathroom and kitchen design.

With a background in psychology, Tal has always been fascinated by how our surroundings shape the way we feel and experience everyday life. This understanding underpins her design philosophy: every bathroom should do more than look beautiful – it should create a sense of calm, comfort and effortless functionality. From layout and lighting to materials and atmosphere, every detail is carefully considered to create spaces that are both practical and inspiring.

Working closely with installers throughout her projects has given Tal a strong understanding of how great design is brought to life. Her hands-on approach ensures every scheme is not only visually striking but also achievable and carefully resolved from concept through to completion.

Outside of work, Tal draws inspiration from travel, art and architecture. Time spent working on design projects across Europe, New Zealand and Australia has broadened her creative perspective and appreciation for craftsmanship. She also enjoys collecting and playing records, bringing the same love of atmosphere and character to her interiors as she does to her music.

Emily

Emily brings over 15 years of accounts experience, the majority of which has been within the construction industry. Her sharp eye for detail, combined with her methodical and highly organised approach, makes her an indispensable asset to the Pier1 team. Emily expertly manages all payments and supplier accounts, ensuring that everything behind the scenes operates seamlessly. Her meticulous oversight allows us to consistently deliver the exceptional customer service for which we are renowned. Emily’s boundless enthusiasm and innovative mindset are evident in our team meetings, where she continually offers fresh ideas and strategies, always aiming to foster a culture of continuous improvement. She also excels at maintaining strong, positive relationships with all our suppliers.

Her expertise goes far beyond basic account management; she plays a crucial role in streamlining our financial processes and enhancing overall efficiency. Emily’s proactive approach and problem-solving skills are vital to ensuring smooth, uninterrupted operations.

Outside of her professional commitments, Emily is a passionate runner. When she isn’t in the showroom, she is often found running along the scenic Brighton and Hove seafront, embracing her love for fitness and the outdoors.
